BYD presents its new 12- and 18-meter city buses built on the new eBus 3.0 platform. The company also introduced a chassis with a floor structure designed for a future intercity bus featuring a luggage compartment of 5.7 m³, capable of accommodating 121 travel suitcases.
Currently, more than 5,000 electric BYD buses operate in over 160 cities across 26 European countries. Over one thousand of these were manufactured at the company’s site in Komárom, Hungary. Powered by BYD’s self-developed, ultra-safe lithium iron phosphate (LFP) Blade Battery technology, and incorporating all the advantages of the patented eBus 3.0 platform, the BYD eBus B12.b offers European bus operators enhanced safety, energy efficiency, performance, and passenger comfort.
The high floor construction of the B12.b HF provides a spacious loading area of 5.7 m³ for stacking 121 20-inch suitcases. Designed for commuting, intercity, and tourism applications, the B12.b HF is available with a maximum battery capacity of 495 kWh, enabling a fully electric range of up to 650 km.
The new, fully electric B18.b 18-metre articulated bus can accommodate up to 146 passengers, has a range of up to 630 km and offers the option of four-wheel drive.
Fully leveraging the advantages of BYD’s ‘Blade Battery in Chassis’ technology, the B18.b sets a new benchmark in the articulated city bus segment. Its high energy density enables a maximum capacity of up to 746 kWh, delivering a range of up to 630 km.
In order to meet customer demand for improved performance, traction, and control, the optional all-wheel drive system allows the B18.b to handle steeper inclines and ensures safer, easier driving in rain, snow, ice, and rough conditions. In narrow streets, the fourth-generation articulated disc brake control unit and enhanced hydraulic damping technology significantly improve cornering stability. An improved regenerative braking system ensures effective braking, even during prolonged downhill riding with a fully charged battery, keeping the friction brakes cooler and reducing wear.
