In April MÁV Passenger Transport Co. (formerly VOLÁNBUSZ) successfully completed its largest-volume bus procurement since 2023, won by Credobus, part of the Hungarian bus manufacturer Kravtex-Kühne Group. Credobus has started delivering 131 of the Econell 12 Next buses and expects to deliver the last vehicle of this order by mid-summer. A significant portion of the new fleet will be in service around Lake Balaton during the summer season.
Credobus buses currently represent nearly 50% of the road fleet (VOLÁN) of MÁV Passenger Transport Co.. According to the company it has more than 2,500 vehicles in operation. Credobus states that the Econell 12 Next is at least 1.5 tons lighter than competing models while it’s passenger capacity is the same or better. It is the world's only articulated bus with a 19.5” wheel diameter system and has a weight-optimised self-supporting frame chassis and the low-emission Euro 6 E FTP powertrain. On average use the Econell 12 Next can saves up to 4,000 liters of fuel per year and eliminates approximately 10 tons of CO2 emissions, according to the manufacturer. The new-generation Econell Next family was introduced in several stages since 2021 and is now available in solo and articulated and in a diesel or electric
powered version, named Electronell. More than 1,500 units of the Econell series has been produced. The Kravtex-Kühne Group which manufactures Credobuses is one of the largest domestically owned machine manufacturing companies in Hungary. Its maket share in the public bus segment in Hungary has averaged around 50% in recent years. Bus production takes place at two locations. In Mosonmagyaróvár Kühne has built one of the largest bus manufacturing plants in Central and Eastern Europe, covering an area of over 20,000 square meters, on an area of 20 hectares, where the frame and metal parts are manufactured. The Győr busfactory hosts the final assembly.
