In Paris Irizar e-mobility has presented the new Irizar ie tram Efficient. It is a completely new and renewed vehicle developed using the know-how accumulated since 2011, when the first Irizar ie tram was launched, and backed by more than 200 million kilometres on the road in 55 European cities, as Irizar states. Key features of the new ie tram are according to the manufacturer reduced energy consumption by up to 10% and weight reduction of nearly 1000 kg.
The new Irizar ie tram is joining the Efficient line, following the footsteps of the Irizar ie bus Efficient. This new bus has a new generation chassis designed to optimise reliability and durability and it incorporates all the innovations and improvements implemented in the Irizar ie bus Efficient. Besides the reduction in energy consumption (10%) and the weight reduction of nearly 1000 kg, the new vehicle contains a new and more efficient climate control system, a more compact motor, latest-generation batteries and the use of 50% more recycled source materials. Also the front is complete redesigned for improved visibility with a panoramic view,
but maintaining the distinctive identity of the Irizar ie tram. The driver’s area has been designed following the German VDV reference standard. All the doors are now wider for better accessibility and the trambus can carry up to 5% more passengers. Irizar e-mobility states that the exterior design of the ie tram has captivated modern cities.
