MAN presents its new battery generation in the Lion's City 10 E for the 2025 model year containing several new features. The new battery generation is produced in MAN's own production facility in Nuremberg. MAN states the new battery generation is more efficient, lighter and has a higher energy density and improved depth of discharge.
The 10.5 meter long eBus, which will be on display at the UITP summit in Hamburg, is equipped with two doors, several assistance systems and four of the new battery packs with an installed capacity of 356 kWh. The new battery packs are lighter and have a higher energy density so the e-bus requires fewer battery packs despite the range remaining the same or even increasing. MAN emphasizes that with 27 seats and 54 standing places, it has a similar passenger capacity to many 12-meter buses. The new battery packs should answer the rising topic off sustainability. MAN says that up to 96 percent of the batteries, which should cover a total of 1 million kilometres over a service life of up to 14 years according to the manufacturer, can be recycled. Series production of the battery system, which will be installed in all future eBuses and eTrucks, has been ramping up at the MAN plant in Nuremberg since April.
