MRS Electronic, provider of selectronic solutions for the automotive industry, presents a new compact gateway for the transmission, filtering and manipulation of messages within and between CAN networks. With a multifunctional input, an analog input, three CAN interfaces and an optional LIN interface, it complements existing systems and transmits, filters or manipulates messages between CAN networks, states MRS Electronics in its press release.
The MicroPlex Gateway 3CAN LIN has 12 pins and enables even more functions in a compact design. The dimensions are 30.4 x 23.6 x 25.75 mm, which makes it suitable for even the smallest of spaces, according to MRS Electronics. The new gateway has a 32-bit S32K148 processor for gateway functionality with high bus loads. The gateway processes LIN data, for instance from a rain/light sensor, and can then route these as CAN messages. The baud rate can also be increased or reduced from one CAN bus to another to ensure communication between different CAN networks with different baud
rates. To reduce the bus load in the networks, the MicroPlex Gateway 3CAN LIN allows targeted filtering of CAN messages, as MRS Electrnoics mentions. The Gateway has a waterproof plug-in base, protection class IP6K8 and meets standards such as ECE-R10, ISO 16750, ISO 7637-2:2005 and ISO 10605:2008. It is suitable for implementing cybersecurity requirements and can thus, for example, prevent faulty or unknown devices from accessing the CAN bus. Programming is carried out with the MRS Applics Studio.
