For the first time Irizar e-mobility electric buses are going ashore in the Netherlands. Operator Arriva Personenvervoer Netherlands has placed an order for 39 units. Eighteen units will be 12-metres long and the other 21 units will be 18-metre articulated units, all of them will be the Irizar ie tram model. They will provide service in several cities in the Oost-Brabant region, the southern part of the Netherlands. Delivery of the buses is scheduled for December 2026.
The buses will be incorporated into the Arriva Netherlands public transport network, and they will operate on a high-capacity BRT line. It is the first time that Irizar e-mobility is supplying electric buses to the Netherlands. “This order is very important for us. Because it means including a new country in our portfolio and continuing to broaden and expand our electromobility solutions“, commented Global Sales Director of Irizar e-mobility José Antonio Sola.
The vehicles will be equipped with Irizar batteries that have more than 615 kWh of power, and they will be charged in the depot using a Combo 2 system. They will have both an electric ramp and a manual one for better accessibility. The driver’s seat will have a personalised position memory, so the seat configuration can be adjusted automatically for each person. The Irizar ie tram has a cutting edge design, synonymous for innovation and technology.
