Otokar has inaugurated a 10 MW Solar Power Plant (SPP) in Malatya (Türkiye). The facility will generate 19 Milion kWh of electricity annually, good for approximately 60% of the factory's electricity needs. The facility is equipped with approximately 19,000 solar panels and uses two 6 MVA transformers and 34 inverters.
With the solar panel plant set to generate 19 Million kWh of electricity annually, Otokar says it will meet approximately 60% of its factory’s total electricity need with renewable and clean energy. Otokar's commercial vehicle factory is located in Sakarya, around 1,000 km from Malatya. Commenting on the project, which has been realised within the framework of the company's sustainability vision, Otokar CEO Aykut Özüner said: "The 10 MW solar power plant in Malatya represents an important step toward our goal of reducing the
carbon footprint of our production and demonstrates the importance we place on environmental sustainability." This year Otokar, a company within the Turkish conglomerate Koç Group, celebrates its 100th anniversary. Otokar’s commercial vehicles product family includes buses, light trucks, and pick-ups. The Company exports commercial vehicles to more than 60 countries and has subsidiaries in France, Italy, Romania, the United Arab Emirates, and Kazakhstan, as well as a branch office in Germany.
