Public transport operator Dopravní podnik města Olomouce in the Czech city of Olomouc, has placed an order at Solaris for the delivery of 20 electric buses. The order comprises 10 Urbino 12 electric buses and 10 articulated Urbino 18 electric buses. The contract also includes an option to extend the order by a further 20 vehicles. Deliveries are scheduled for 2028.
Solaris and Dopravní podnik města Olomouce have been working together for many years. To date, the Polish manufacturer has delivered 96 buses to Olomouc. The vehicles covered by the latest contract will be the first Solaris electric buses in the operator’s fleet. The contract also includes an option for an additional 15 twelve-metre battery-electric buses and 5 articulated vehicles. If the option is exercised, the order may comprise up to 40 Solaris electric buses in total. Deliveries are scheduled for 2028. The vehicles will comply with GSR2 requirements and will be equipped
with advanced driver assistance systems, including solutions for blind spot monitoring, pedestrian and cyclist detection, and driver fatigue monitoring. Solaris regards the Czech Republic as one of its key markets in Europe. For many years, the manufacturer has supplied buses and trolleybuses to the country. To date, a total of almost 1,500 Solaris vehicles have been delivered to Czech customers, more than 500 of which are zero-emission vehicles – battery-electric and hydrogen buses as well as trolleybuses.
