Solaris is presenting the electric Urbino 10.5 as a city bus featuring space for up to 85 passengers, designed for smaller and historic towns. Meanwhile, the Polish manufacturer is working hard on a new range of intercity buses, scheduled for release in 2026.
Solaris closed 2024 with a production of 1,525 buses, of which about 83% were zero-emission vehicles. In the first half of the year, 765 buses were sold, including 356 electric and 133 hydrogen fuel cell buses. In the same period, 1,511 new vehicles were already ordered, 90% of which were zero-emission buses. Between 2012 and 2024, Solaris ranked first in the zero-emission bus segment with a market share of 13.91%. In the sub-segment of battery-electric buses, Solaris came second, with 12.30%, just behind Mercedes-Benz.
Although Solaris is best known for its wide range of city buses between 9 and 24 metres, including three trolleybus variants, the manufacturer is now adding a 10.55-metre-long electric Urbino to its range. This model combines manoeuvrability and stability with high passenger capacity and offers a daily range of up to 600 kilometers.
In addition, the Urbino 10.5 electric is fully compatible with the entire Urbino family, particularly the 12-meter version, which translates into more efficient operation and easier maintenance for operators who use different Solaris models in their fleet.
With the Urbino 10.5 electric, Solaris is targeting transport operators that are active in smaller and historic towns. The Urbino 10.5 electric is available with either two or three doors and can accommodate up to 85 passengers, including around 30 seated passengers.
Solaris also announced that it is working hard on the development of a range of specific intercity buses measuring 10.8, 12.1 and 13.1 metres in length, in both low-floor and standard versions. The buses will be equipped with battery packs ranging from 260 to 620 kWh, while a hydrogen-powered variant is also under development. The launch of these intercity buses is planned for 2026.
