Public transport operator MPK Poznań has signed a contract with Solaris Bus & Coach for the delivery of five new Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen buses, with n option for another 4 vehicles. Poznan is the capital of the Greater Poland region and has set its gaol to become an eco-friendly city.
These modern, environmentally friendly hydrogen-powered buses will hit the streets of Poznań by the end of April 2026, further expanding the city’s hydrogen fleet, which already includes 25 Urbino hydrogen buses. MPK Poznań has been investing in modern and environmentally friendly transport for years. The operator's fleet currently consists of over 300 Solaris buses, including 58 electric and 25 hydrogen vehicles. Solaris has been collaborating with MPK Poznań continuously since 1996. Currently, the company operates around 330 city buses, with zero-emission vehicles making up 25% of the fleet. Once the latest electric and hydrogen buses are delivered, this share will exceed 30%. ”Investing in our fleet is a priority for us,

The introduction of new vehicles means phasing out the least eco-friendly ones,” said Krzysztof Dostatni, CEO of MPK Poznań. The new hydrogen buses will be equipped with fuel cells and Solaris High Power batteries to support the fuel cell during periods of increased energy demand.
