Solaris has won an order for the delivery of 244 CNG buses issued by public transport operator ATAC in Rome. This order follows an other order a few months ago for the delivery of 110 mild hybrid buses. Solaris reports that with the maximum use of options by the ordering party, both contracts will reach a value of up to EUR 200 million, including a 10 year service contract, .
The order for the CNG buses also includes an option for another 78 units. The contracting authority may decide on this in the following months, as Solaris states. The 244 CNG buses are 12 metres Urbino’s and will be delivered to the Italian capitol city in 2024 and 2025. The 110 mild hybrids are 18 metres articulated Urbino 18 buses which will hit the streets of Rome this year. Both tender procedures were conducted by
the Gubielo Spa purchasing group for the carrier ATAC Roma. This is one of the largest contracts in the company's history. In total, Solaris has delivered over 1800 vehicles to Italy, which is one of the company's key markets. More than 700 Solaris InterUrbino intercity vehicles are in service for regional transport in the suburbs of Rome.
