Irizar e-mobility has signed a supply contract with the Empresa Municipal de Transportes Urbanos de Gijón (EMTUSA, municipal transport company) for the delivery of electric buses as part of an ambitious plan to renew the 24-27 fleet. The contract is to supply 4 electric 12-metre-long Irizar ie bus.
Delivery of the units is expected within 11 months. They will provide service on line 10 (Pumarin - Hospital de Cabueñes). The line crosses the Spanish city of Gijón from west to east, and transports more than 2,827,137 passengers a year. The ie bus has a charging power up to 150 KW, and they will be charged using an inverted pantograph or Combo 2 outlet in the depot. In terms of safety and security, they incorporate the GSR2 ADAS standard that, additionally, includes cybersecurity measures to ensure the protection of the vehicle.
The vehicles are equipped with a double ramp, two spaces reserved for wheelchairs or prams, and preferential seats for people with reduced mobility. This order is part of an ambitious plan to renew the 24-27 fleet run by EMTUSA. Irizar e-mobility electromobility solutions are present in more than 26 Spanish cities. Last year, the company, founded barely nine years ago, has surpassed the production of 1,200 electric buses.
