Spanish operator Tuvisa expands its fleet with 5 ie trams from Irizar e-mobility

By adding 5 new ie trams from Irizar e-mobility to its fleet of electric buses, Spanish operator Tuvisa underlines the collaboration with Irizar that started in 2019. It's the fourth time the operator in the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz has chosen for Irizar's e-mobility technology.

The collaboration between Irizar e-mobility and Tuvisa started in 2019 with the purchase of thirteen 12 and 18 metre ie trams, which were delivered in 2020 to get the EIB (Electric Intelligent Bus) system under way. Four years later Tuvisa incorporated another ten ie trams into their fleet, and in 2025 five additional units were added. “For us, it's deeply satisfying that Tuvisa and the City of Vitoria-Gasteiz has chosen one of our solutions again. Moreover, it's especially gratifying to see our ie trams on the road so close to our Aduna plant, where they're designed and manufactured. Vitoria-Gasteiz is in a transition to cleaner and more efficient mobility. We hope to keep moving in the same direction together”, said Iñigo Azcona, commercial director of Irizar e-mobility for Spain and Portugal. With the new buses,

Vitoria-Gasteiz continues advancing in its commitment to more sustainable and efficient mobility. Of the five new units, three will be 18 metres and two will be 12 metres long. The ie trams have the latest-generation technology and are, according to Irizar, designed to provide accessible travel experience, with reserved spaces for wheelchairs and prams, access ramps, Braille systems and areas adapted for people with reduced mobility. The vehicles are designed and manufactured at the Irizar e-mobility plant in Aduna, Gipuzkoa just a few kilometres from Vitoria-Gasteiz, which means production is 100% local. It's a plant committed to development and talent that employs around 400 people.
