Following a six-month pilot, Transdev Nederland selected Swedish technology company Pilotfish as the digital partner delivering the open onboard communication platform and the supervision interface needed to support the new digital architecture designed by Transdev. This will be the digital backbone of its 10-year public transport concession "Utrecht-Binnen" in the Dutch province of Utrecht and the 13-year public transport concession Hoeksche Waard-Goeree Overflakkee (HWGO) in the southern province Zeeland.
On December 14th 2025, Transdev Nederland officially began operating public transport for the Utrecht-Binnen concession and the HWGO-concession. Within these operations, technology provided by Pilotfish is responsible for the exchange of data in and out of the vehicle as well as extended monitoring capacity for data integration and operational reliability. A large part of the vehicles dedicated to Utrecht and HWGO have now been installed with this new range of digital solutions. With the latest generation of their Vehicle Gateway, the Pilotfish VG212, Pilotfish powers the digital hub needed by all onboard systems — from ticketing and signage to vehicle positioning and video surveillance — they are all interconnected and report a wide range of data to Transdev’s operations center. The architecture is based on the ITxPT principles (the European initiative defining open standards for public transport IT systems). The Pilotfish VG212 is connected to its back-office hosted in a cloud infrastructure compliant with the EU’s cybersecurity directive (NIS2) located in Europe.
