Digital Mobility Solutions Conference logo

One bus holds over 20,000 chips. Software is contributing to the safety, sustainability and passenger & driver comfort and is essential in including bus services in the multimodal mobility models of the future as well as the growth of demand responsive passenger transport. Busworld wants to match digital mobility solutions with bus and coach operations, to better match supply and demand.

This event will be held in collaboration with ERTICO, ITxPT and Espaces Mobilités.

14:00 - Smart Energy Management When Deploying Electric Buses

The implementation of electric buses allows a more significant control of the energy costs by the operator. Other than the diesel price, the electricity price fluctuates from minute to minute. The time of charging the vehicles, including own electricity production or implementing stationary electricity storage will have a decisive effect on the energy cost of a bus operator. Taking the planning, timing and route schedules of the buses into account to calculate the energy needs for the day, and choosing the right energy source (grid, battery, own production) at each minute in the charging process, becomes an extremely complicated process. Smart Energy Management systems will have a most important role in this. Bus companies who best control their energy consumption will be in the lead to win the tenders.

  • Moderator: Flemish Institute for Technological Research – VITO, Annelies Delnooz, Project Manager Energyville
